What My First 100 Hours in the AI Economy Taught Me About Family, Time, and Purpose

The Big Idea That Changed How I See Work

100

hours of AI work

=

330+

hours of regular work

This is not about money. It is about time. That is 230 hours of a person's life — time they could spend with their family.

Something happened to me over the past few months that changed how I think about AI, work, and family.

In May 2026, I started helping a global AI company — on my own time, while keeping my full-time job.

What happens when families learn that everything they already know has real value — and the time they get back can be spent on what matters most?

Three Lessons for Families

🧠 LESSON ONE

The First Lesson

What You Already Know Has Value

The most important thing I learned in my first 100 hours with AI was not about computers. It was about people.

As a parent, you know things from raising your children. You know how to comfort a crying kid. You know when something is wrong before anyone says a word. You know how to be patient when things get hard.

As a teacher, you know things from standing in a classroom. You know when a student is confused. You know how to explain something three different ways. You know how to keep a room calm.

As a caregiver, you know things from helping others. You understand what people need. You notice the small things.

AI can look up facts fast. But it does not understand people the way you do. It does not know your family. It does not know your students. It does not know your story.

So the question is not just: What do I need to learn about AI? It is also: What have I learned from my family, my work, and my life that AI cannot replace?

🚪 LESSON TWO

The Second Lesson

You Are More Ready Than You Think

In my first 100 hours, I never met anyone face-to-face. I never talked to a person on the phone.

I got instructions. I read them. I followed them. I paid attention. I finished my tasks. I got feedback. I made changes. When things shifted, I adjusted.

You do these things every single day.

When you help your child with homework, you follow instructions. When you run a household, you finish what you start. When you take feedback from a teacher or a boss, you adjust. When your plans change because a kid gets sick, you adapt.

People think AI is only for coders and computer experts. That is not true. The skills that matter most with AI are the skills you already use as a parent, teacher, or caregiver: reading carefully, listening well, following through, and being willing to learn.

⏰ LESSON THREE

The Third Lesson

Time With Family Is the Real Prize

100 hours of AI work equals what used to take 330 or more hours of regular work. That is a big deal.

There are two ways to think about this.

One way: Great — now people can do even more work. That does not excite me.

The other way: What if those extra hours are given back to families? What if a parent gets their evenings back? What if a teacher has more time for their own kids? What if a caregiver can rest?

Time with family is not something extra. It is the most important thing we have.

🔑 WHY THESE PRINCIPLES MATTER FOR YOUR FAMILY

The Voice Up Principles Matter Even More Now

These principles were not made as an AI guide. But they describe the human qualities that matter most as AI gets more powerful — especially for parents, teachers, and caregivers.

Collaboration

All are Welcome

The journey towards purpose begins with others that allow you to be the true you.

Humility

We all have much to learn

We can learn and become better with each conversation.

Precision

All the Details Matter

The steps we overlook may be the ones that make us great. There is power in consistency in a collaborative community.

Patience

We All Need Forgiveness

We all make mistakes. The key is to learn from each and become better.

Empathy

We Must Understand Your Why

We help you set a goal to talk to new people every week and share the lessons you learn.

Voice Up's mission: We Connect People to Purpose.

Now that means even more — connecting the time families get back to what matters to them.

What If Those Hours Are Given Back to Families?

Technology should not just help us do more work. It should give families more time together.

Time reading with kids

Time caring for parents

Time playing together

Time learning

Time helping others

Time building something new

Time serving your neighborhood

Time following a dream

Time just being present

💡 THE RIPPLE EFFECT FOR FAMILIES

From Time Saved to Purpose Found

→

What if a teacher saves five hours a week and uses two to read with their own kids?

→

What if a nurse gets time back to teach patients better?

→

What if a college student discovers their life experience has value — and builds something their community needs?

→

What if a social worker spends less time on paperwork and more with families?

→

What if a parent gets their evenings back?

→

What if millions find AI gives them something better than just getting more done?

Time.

Then families connect that time to purpose. The ripple effect could be huge.

✍️ A NOTE ON PERSPECTIVE

Let me be honest. I am fortunate. I work as a healthcare executive and my family is secure. This is not about money for me. I share it because of what it means about time, value, and human potential — and it matters far beyond my own family.

The key point: this opportunity is not just for people like me. It is open to anyone — no matter your title, background, or money — who sees the value of their own life experience. Your judgment and knowledge already have value. The question is whether you will see that and use the time you get back to go after what matters — for your family, your students, and your community.

"

The real gift of AI is not just doing more with our time. It is getting enough of our time back to do more of what matters — especially for the people we love.
