LinkedIn Outreach Strategy
Purpose Media Network launch · 2 posts per week · 16 posts
Goal: Drive awareness and applications to the Purpose Media Network by sharing the purpose and history of all communities — especially those traditionally underrepresented. LinkedIn is the primary channel; each post links back to the network or a specific internship page.
Strategy Guidelines
Primary Platform
LinkedIn is the primary channel. Each post links back to the Purpose Media Network page or a specific internship page.
Cadence
Two posts per week — Tuesday and Friday — for 8 weeks (16 posts total). Tuesday builds the week; Friday deepens it.
Hook First
The first 2 lines are the hook. Lead with a bold statement or a fact that stops the scroll.
Voice
Plain, confident, 9th-grade reading level. No jargon. Short paragraphs. One idea per post.
Hashtags
3–5 hashtags per post. Always include #PurposeMediaNetwork on launch-pillar posts. Mix broad (#Purpose) and specific (#RandyWeston).
Link in Comments
Put the page link in the first comment, not the body. LinkedIn's algorithm favors posts without outbound links in the body.
Engage
Reply to every comment within 2 hours for the first day. Tag relevant voices (music historians, educators, community leaders) where authentic.
Measure
Track impressions, reactions, comments, and link clicks weekly. Double down on the pillars that perform best in weeks 1–4.

We just launched the Purpose Media Network
"Today we are launching something we have been building for a long time."
The Purpose Media Network is a media network focused on connecting people to purpose. The emphasis is simple: to share the purpose and the history of all communities — especially those that have been traditionally underrepresented in our world. Every show, every fellowship, every book, and every research project here shares one mission: helping people uncover the purpose that is already inside them.

Why we built a network for underrepresented communities
"Every community carries a story worth telling. Most never get heard."
The Purpose Media Network exists to change that. We share the purpose and the history of all communities — with a special emphasis on those that have been traditionally underrepresented in our world. When people find their purpose, their health improves, their communities strengthen, and their work matters. This network is our way of making sure those stories are heard.
What community's story do you want to see told? Tell us in the comments.

Remembering Samuel Coleridge-Taylor on his 151st birthday
"Born August 15, 1875. By age 20 he had produced ~30 compositions. The world tried to forget him. We won't let that happen."
Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was a British composer of mixed African and English heritage. His Hiawatha's Wedding Feast was compared to Handel's Messiah. He became the first Black man to conduct a white orchestra in the United States. We launched the Coleridge-Taylor Research Internship on August 15, 2026 — exactly 151 years after his birth — to recover the legacy the world tried to forget.

Randy Weston: from Brooklyn to Morocco to the world
"African jazz pioneer. Spiritual seeker. He found his purpose in Morocco and carried it home."
Randy Weston (1926–2018) traced his ancestry from Brooklyn to Morocco and built a musical language the world had not heard. The Fuller Road Internship follows that journey — the spiritual jazz, the African pride, and the living communities that carried his music forward. Together with Coleridge-Taylor, he forms a single line of Black musical ancestry a century apart.

Reading the news through purpose
"The news is not just information. It is a mirror for what matters."
Our Current Events Internship trains students to analyze PBS NewsHour broadcasts through purpose-driven themes: peacebuilding, migration, climate, civic engagement, cultural institutions, and public health. It connects daily news to the deeper question of what matters and why — building informed citizens who can see purpose in the events shaping the world.

Purpose is medicine — and the research proves it
"This is not a metaphor. Purpose lowers mortality risk. It protects the heart. It preserves the brain."
Research shows that living with a sense of purpose lowers mortality risk, protects the cardiovascular system, strengthens immune function, improves mental health, and preserves cognitive function as we age. The Purpose Media Network exists to help people find it — because purpose is medicine.

Four trilogies. One developmental arc.
"A network needs a foundation. Ours is four book trilogies — student-created, and open to all."
The Miracle Has a Monster Trilogy builds emotional literacy and health advocacy. The Naming Gap Trilogy asks why capable people go unseen. The Learning That Sticks Trilogy traces where purpose comes from. The All the Colors Trilogy follows identity, connection, and purpose from childhood through leadership. These are the texts the media network is built on.

The community is already here
"Before the launch, the community was already speaking."
Students across the country and the world have been sharing what Voice Up means to them — anonymously, in their own words. Their voices live on our Student Voices Map. The Purpose Media Network is built for them, and for everyone whose story has not been heard yet.

Four ways to enter the Coleridge-Taylor work
"You don't need to be a musician to join this work. You need to care about legacy."
The Coleridge-Taylor Research Internship has four fellowship roles: Archival Research, Transatlantic Connections, Civil Rights & Representation, and Composers' Rights & Legacy. Whether your strength is research, history, civil rights, or advocacy — there is a role here for you.

What "underrepresented" really means to us
"We don't use "underrepresented" as a buzzword. We use it as a direction."
It means the communities whose histories were buried, whose composers were forgotten, whose stories were never carried into the room. The Purpose Media Network points the camera, the microphone, and the research toward them first — not as charity, but as correction. Every community carries a story worth telling.

A single line of Black musical ancestry
"Coleridge-Taylor in Edwardian Britain. Weston in Brooklyn and Morocco. A century apart. The same bridge."
Both men used African diasporic traditions to build music the world thought it owned. Both crossed racial barriers that were supposed to stop them. Both were adopted by Black communities who built institutions to keep the legacy alive. The Sonic Ancestry Laboratory is our way of continuing that work.

Purpose is not created. It is uncovered.
"You don't need to build your purpose. You need to find it."
The Purpose Media Network is built on a simple idea: purpose is not created — it is uncovered. And when people find it, their health improves, their communities strengthen, and their work matters. The network connects three internship programs, four book trilogies, and the science of purpose-driven health into one ecosystem designed to help people discover why they are here.

A quote from the map
"This is what a student wrote about Voice Up — anonymously, in their own words."
"Voice Up gave me a way to name what I care about and a community that takes it seriously." — Anonymous student, from the Student Voices Map. This is why we built the Purpose Media Network. The community is already here. We are just making sure the world can hear it.

What we launched — and what comes next
"Eight weeks ago we launched the Purpose Media Network. Here is what happened."
We introduced the Sonic Ancestry Laboratory (Coleridge-Taylor & Randy Weston). We opened the Current Events Internship. We spotlighted four book trilogies. We pointed to the evidence that purpose is medicine. And we invited the world to find their place in the network. What comes next: more fellowships, more community voices, and more stories from the communities the world has overlooked.
