A Sample 8 Weeks With Voice Up
A big-picture look at the Purpose, Planning & Readiness Pathway — using a generic student so you can see the shape of the experience before you begin your own.
Four Anchors Over Eight Weeks
In the most general terms, the pathway moves through four anchors. Each anchor spans about two weeks. That is the whole shape of the journey.
Name It
Name your purpose and the lived experience it comes from. Get oriented, meet your mentor, and say — in your own words — what you are committing to and why.
Learn It
Learn the five Voice Up principles and connect them to your anchor trilogy. Begin reading the trilogy that frames your work.
Practice It
Practice the mechanism that turns purpose into lasting change — conversation, reflection, action, evaluation — and define the legacy you are building.
Apply It
Build a small, real action project tied to your cause. Evaluate it, document your growth, earn your certificate, and choose what comes next.
One Pathway, Personalized to You and Your Program
The four anchors stay the same. What changes is the goals, activities, and deliverables — personalized to your cause and mapped to the academic standards your program requires. The Voice Up internship has been successfully used across MPH, DrPH, and LCSW settings.
How It's Personalized
Your cause becomes a real public-health issue, and your action project is scoped as a community assessment or health-promotion deliverable.
CEPH Foundational Competencies It Meets
Example Deliverables Mapped to Standards
A community needs assessment (assessment competency), a health-communication piece (communication competency), and an evaluation plan for your action project (program evaluation) — usable toward practicum hours.
How It's Personalized
Your cause becomes a translational research and leadership challenge, and your deliverables feed advanced practice and dissertation work.
CEPH DrPH Advanced Competencies It Meets
Example Deliverables Mapped to Standards
A positionality/reflexivity memo (research ethics), an advocacy or policy brief (advocacy & policy), and a translational research artifact from your action project — aligned with the Mercer DrPH study model Voice Up already uses.
How It's Personalized
Your guided conversations and reflections map to clinical-practice competencies and supervised field hours.
CSWE Educational Competencies It Meets
Example Deliverables Mapped to Standards
A lived-experience timeline supporting cultural humility (diversity competency), guided conversation logs as field-practicum evidence (engagement/assessment), and an evaluation of your action project (evaluation of practice) — usable toward field practicum hours and supervision.
In every setting, the four anchors stay the same — only the standards, the deliverables, and the cause change.
After Week 8: Certification & What Comes Next
Students who complete their eight weeks and submit their final reflection receive a Voice Up certificate, become eligible for the weekly gift-card reflection raffle, and choose a next pathway to keep going.
